ApartmentTour Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 9, 2026
ApartmentTour (“the App”) is an apartment tour planning app developed by Jason Aron. This policy explains what information the App uses, how it is stored, and which third-party services may receive data when you use certain features.
Summary
- Your buildings, tour notes, scores, rankings, and photos stay on your device.
- The App does not require an account and does not upload your tour data to our servers.
- Some optional features send limited data to third parties (address/building search, maps, and app updates).
Information stored on your device
The App stores the following locally on your phone or tablet (for example, using on-device storage):
- Buildings you add (name, address, website, phone, pricing, thumbnail image)
- Tour visit data (criteria scores, notes, unit pricing, appointments)
- Photos you attach from your camera or photo library
- App preferences needed to run the App
This data remains on your device unless you delete it in the App, uninstall the App, or erase your device. We do not operate a backend that collects or syncs this information.
Permissions
- Camera — to take photos during apartment visits (only when you choose to).
- Photo library — to attach existing photos to a building or visit (only when you choose to).
Third-party services
When you use certain features, limited information is sent to these providers:
- Google Places API (New) — when you search for apartment complexes in “Add Building,” your search text is sent to Google to return building suggestions and details (such as name, address, phone, and website). See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Google Routes API — when you sort apartments by drive time, your work address and building addresses are sent to Google to estimate travel times. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim — when you use address autocomplete while editing a building, your typed address text is sent to the Nominatim geocoding service to suggest formatted US addresses. See OpenStreetMap’s privacy information.
- Apple Maps / Google Maps — when you open a building address in maps, the address is passed to your device’s maps app via a standard link. That app’s privacy policy applies.
- Expo / EAS Updates — the App may check for and download over-the-air (OTA) software updates from Expo’s infrastructure. This typically includes standard device and app metadata needed to deliver updates. See Expo’s Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal information. Third parties process data according to their own policies and only in connection with the features you use.
What we do not collect
- No user accounts or login
- No advertising or ad tracking in the App
- No analytics SDK that profiles you across apps (as of this policy date)
- No upload of your tour content to developer-operated servers
Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data retention and deletion
Data you enter in the App is kept on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. To remove your data, delete individual buildings or visits in the App, or uninstall ApartmentTour from your device.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
